A franchise rises from the ashes.

After the unsatisfactory results of the latest Transformers films, Paramount bosses decided to rethink their approach to developing new projects in the Michael Bay universe.

The producers hired director Josh Cooley and gave him the difficult task of making audiences fall in love with Transformers again.

To the surprise of the skeptical audience, Cooley completed the task. He directed the animated film Transformers: The Beginning, the main characters of which were the young Optimus Prime and Megatron – from best friends they gradually turn into sworn enemies.

The cartoon about Transformers unexpectedly became one of the highest rated projects of the summer – American film critics gave it 88% “freshness,” and Rotten Tomatoes users were completely generous with it 98%.

Not only his fans, but also one of the most respected people on the Internet – game designer Hideo Kojima – was inspired by the unexpected development of the boring franchise.

The Death Stranding creator compared Cooley’s project to one of his favorite films, X-Men: First Class. The plots of the two films are similar, so comparing Kojima doesn’t sound like empty praise.

Despite Kojima’s support, Transformers Begins lacks stars at the box office. The film was released in the US on September 20th and so far I have been able to watch everything $24.6 million at the national cash register.

The film has already gathered momentum on the world stage $38 million. But the film’s budget hasn’t been revealed, so it’s too early to judge the prequel’s profitability.
