The amount is fantastic.
Huge Hollywood salaries have long surprised no one. For one role in a blockbuster, actors sometimes get money that an ordinary person can only dream of.
And of course, no one is going to turn down a staggering amount of money, especially not for a promising project from an Oscar-winning director.
It was precisely this opportunity that Colin Farrell was given in the early 2000s, when he was offered the role of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone’s film of the same name.
After Gladiator’s half-billion dollar box office and the revival of the peplum genre, studios stopped cutting budgets, so they invited A-list stars to star in Alexander.
Farrell was joined by Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto, Anthony Hopkins, Val Kilmer, Rosario Dawson and others.

The creative team was passionate about the project, so they were sorely disappointed when the film grossed only $167 million at the box office despite a $155 million release.
“It’s heartbreaking that it didn’t work out,” the actor said in an interview, “but jokes aside, there’s no reason to feel sorry for myself because, again, I got paid too much and I got to have a great life experience that I shared with great people.”
Warner Bros.’ Lost Fortune It’s only half the story; the film crew received no critical acclaim.

Instead of the expected victories at the Oscars, they received 6 nominations for the Golden Raspberry Award, but fortunately they failed to win a single statuette.
And while the high-profile failure once had a profound effect on Colin, he admitted, “I wasn’t going to give them their $20 million back.”
