He is aiming for another important role.
Gary Aldan only needed a few minutes on screen to become the audience favorite.
Despite the original character’s age-inappropriateness, his experience and charisma helped him embody the same Sirius Black whose death later came as a heavy blow to audiences.
The actor starred in “The Prisoner of Azkaban,” “The Goblet of Fire,” “The Order of the Phoenix” and “The Deathly Hallows,” forever writing himself into Potter history.
Fans would love to see him reprise his role as the Tramp, especially as HBO prepares a TV adaptation of Harry Potter.
Speaking to reporters on the Emmy Awards red carpet, Oldman said he hoped Black would get a lot more attention this time around:
“I love Sirius, but he wasn’t enough. He appeared and then disappeared behind the veil.”
He noted that he had not received any phone calls with offers from the producers, but if he did happen to be back on set, he would prefer to portray a completely different character.
“I’m willing to bet all my money that they’ll have a whole new cast. Maybe in a few years I can play Dumbledore,” the actor smiled.
Producers will likely turn down this opportunity to avoid audience confusion and crossover between two versions of the same fantasy universe.
But it would be interesting to watch the director’s take, performed by Oldman!
Now the creative team faces a new challenge: finding suitable children for the Golden Trio.
There’s less and less time left, as the series is scheduled for release in 2026.
