Which Wolverine? A real hero is right under your nose, Marvel!
It seems like the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been driven solely by Deadpool and Loki lately – oh, these games with the times, right? But despite Deadpool and Wolverine’s box office success, fans have had a lot of complaints about this crossover – largely due to the fact that everyone got the feeling that it was made purely for the sake of a parade of cameos, and not, you know, advancing the story and all that.
Maybe Marvel is ignoring the obvious path to save their cinematic universe all this time. Yes, it’s a Deadpool crossover. No, not with Wolverine.
There are more reasons for Spider-Man and Deadpool to make a movie together than just their physical similarities. Yes, they both wear red and they both have a sense of humor; but what’s also important is that they were both originally intended to be “street” superheroes dealing with city-level criminals, not aliens and time travel.
Their duet could return the Marvel Cinematic Universe to what it originally loved: a more “earthy” level of threats, but also more down-to-earth and “relatable” characters. Moreover, both Peter Parker and Wade Wilson are now at the perfect stage to meet each other: one has been forgotten by everyone and is essentially “rebooting” himself, the other has just saved the world, but has not become part of the team he dreamed of.
Who knows, maybe Spider-Man will end up being Deadpool’s ticket to the Avengers?
