The writer and director are teaming up again.
Stephen King has seen the release of numerous films and TV shows based on his own work for decades — and while there are likely at least several similar projects in the works, the writer himself can’t wait for a particular show to come out. In a recent interview, King admitted that he wants to quickly evaluate Mike Flanagan’s new work — the writer and director once worked together on Doctor Sleep.

For example, King said that Flanagan’s upcoming series “The Dark Tower,” also based on Stephen King’s novel series of the same name, is certainly at the top of his personal list of most anticipated projects of the coming years.
The writer explained that there could still be quite a bit of time before the series premiere – according to him, this is understood by those who have already read the series. However, the delay in production does not mean that the series is not being worked on at all; it is just taking a little longer than many expected.

The Dark Tower series of novels began with the story “The Humble Sisters of Eluria,” published in 1998. The plot, which King himself still considers the high point of his work, revolves around the time traveler Roland Deschain, the last representative of the ancient knightly order of archers. At first alone, and then in the company of friends, Roland travels through a post-apocalyptic world in which magic has become possible.
The purpose of his wanderings is to find the Dark Tower, from where, in his own opinion, he will be able to see who controls the universe – and perhaps have a chance to restore world order.
