After this failure, the actor was removed from Hollywood.

In the late 2000s, Josh Hartnett was considered one of the most promising actors in Hollywood. Films starring him consistently collected decent box office, and critics vied with each other to praise the talented handsome man.

And then something went wrong.

Hartnett’s films began to flop and producers quickly wrote him off as trash. Fortunately for the actor’s career, he was noticed by M. Night Shyamalan, who invited him to play the lead in the thriller “Trap.”

The wildly twisted plot reminded many of Hartnett’s talent, but critics and viewers alike reacted coolly to the new product. The film received only 57% “freshness” of critics and 65% from Rotten Tomatoes users – average results for Hartnett’s “comeback”.

However, ‘The Trap’ is far from the worst film of the artist’s career. This dubious title rightly belongs to the 2014 romantic drama Timeless.

The story of submarine archaeologist Jay Finnell, who falls into a coma and is transported to India in the 18th century, was supposed to be the actor’s triumphant return to Hollywood Olympus, but turned into a universal joke.

The absurd romantic drama only got an 8% “fresh” rating from critics, and audiences weren’t much kinder, with a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film, which had a budget of tens of millions of dollars, only grossed 84 thousand — the enchanting failure became the reason why Hartnett was not invited to the prestigious cinema for ten years.

Despite the lukewarm reviews for The Trap, the thriller is sure to get Hartnett back on track. Critics were pleased with the actor’s performance and the film itself was received well 80 million dollars with a budget of 30 million.
