There are no magic or fantasy elements, only plausible situations that could soon become reality, given how quickly technology is developing in the real world.
In most series, science fiction focuses on the near future of humanity, where certain technologies go beyond the ability of humans to control and understand, whether it is artificial intelligence, genetic modification or something even worse.
