After the release of Netflix’s The Keeper, fans of dark detective stories with an air of mystery were left looking for something just as compelling. This series captivated viewers with the way it wove drama, suspense and unexpected twists together – you’d expect nothing less from the creator of ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘The Ratched Sisters.’
If you’re also looking for something akin to ‘The Guardian,’ then our list is for you. It features 10 of the best series that are similar to Netflix’s dark hit. But be warned: many of these projects are not for the faint of heart.
Perhaps the darkest project in our selection is of course ‘Monster’ starring Evan Peters in the title role. He plays Jeffrey Dahmer, a creepy American cannibal who killed seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991. The series was also directed by Ryan Murphy and became one of the most popular projects on Netflix, although many criticized ‘Monster’ for romanticizing Dahmer and not showing enough respect for the maniac’s victims.
However, this has not hindered the fame of the series at all: on the contrary, now “Monster” will become an anthology and the second season has even been given a release date. It will be dedicated to the Menendez brothers, who murdered their own parents in order to quickly obtain their father’s multimillion-dollar fortune.
The new season of ‘Monster’ (more precisely, now ‘Monsters’) hits Netflix on September 19.
