Bad choice of singer.
Last week, rock music fans were shocked by some unexpected news. Legendary band Linkin Park is returning to the stage with a new singer: vocalist Emily Armstrong.
The band went bankrupt in 2017 when vocalist Chester Bennington committed suicide. The death of one of the most iconic musicians of our time shocked fans to the core, and many decided that Linkin Park would never get back together.
But Mike Shinoda had plans of his own. He reunited the band, he announced last week, replacing Bennington with his longtime girlfriend Armstrong.
Naturally, the group’s fans were dismayed by this decision. Bennington’s fans began accusing Shinoda of mocking the singer’s memory, and Bennington’s son, Jamie, quickly joined in the accusations.
Arista’s son didn’t like Shinobi choosing Armstrong as his father’s replacement. He wisely noted that the singer’s connection to Scientologists discredits his father’s honor. And the fact that she defended her rapist boyfriend Danny Masterson in court makes her completely unsuitable as the lead singer of Linkin Park.
“Mike Shinoda is quietly erasing my father’s legacy. And he’s doing it during International Suicide Prevention Month. He refuses to acknowledge the consequences of hiring someone like Emily without making a single clarifying statement about her issues and connections to Masterson. – said James Bennington.
Fans are supporting Chester’s son – some of them are already calling on fellow Linkin Park fans to boycott the band’s upcoming concerts.
It seems Shinoda will have to give up his idea – otherwise the fans will never forgive him.
