6 Most Anticipated Series of September (Including 2 Russian!)

Summer 2024 proved to be a poor one for exciting TV series. Yes, a few projects from Netflix and Prime Video managed to hook viewers, but most of the big premieres fell short of fans’ expectations.

The fall season has already begun, and this means one thing: streaming services and prestigious TV channels are ready to please viewers with interesting series.

Fight Night: Million Dollar Scam – September 5

The streaming service Peacock decided to spend a hefty budget on the production of this crime miniseries. The plot revolves around a group of robbers who decide to pull off the heist of the century on the night that Muhammad Ali returns to the boxing ring. The project was led by Kevin Hart, Terrence Howard, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson.

This Okko series could well become the domestic answer to True Detective. The plot of the crime thriller revolves around a teenage girl who murdered her parents for unknown reasons. Anna Mikhalkova signed on for the lead role in the series, with Karina Razumovskaya, Elizaveta Ishchenko and Alexander Ilyin Jr. looking for the background.

Nicole Kidman has officially moved from the big screen to the world of prestige series. Netflix’s new crime drama doesn’t have an original plot: a murder takes place before a wedding ceremony, and all the guests become suspects. But it may surprise viewers with its all-star cast: Kidman was joined by Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning and Jack Reynor in “The Perfect Couple.”

Combination – September 6

The most anticipated Russian series of the fall. This is the story of the formation of the legendary group “Combination”, which will be examined from different angles. The plot will focus not only on the pop stars themselves, but also on their relatives and producers. The main roles in the expensive project were played by Nikita Kologrivy, Elizaveta Bazykina, Anastasia Ukolova, Daniil Vorobyov and Pavel Priluchny.

It’s All Agatha – September 18

Kathryn Hahn is returning to the role of Agatha Harkness in the new MCU series. After the failure of the latest streaming comic book movies, Kevin Feige’s team is calling “Agatha It’s All” a return to Marvel Studios’ roots. But the series already has one problem: Not all fans are ready to watch WandaVision before its premiere. And it’ll be very difficult to understand what’s happening on screen without this old project.

Penguin – September 19

After the MCU, DC is also starting to branch out into TV series. The first series in Matt Reeves’ cinematic universe will be dedicated to the Penguin, who will once again be played by Colin Farrell. The actor is already aiming for a Golden Globe, and early viewers promise that Penguin will be more like The Sopranos and not like Marvel’s half-baked projects.
