10 Video Game Movies Worse Than Borderlands (Yes, That’s Possible)

Thank you, we will play better.

Adapting famous video games into movies is about as difficult a task as adapting books and comics. In fact, it can be even harder: it’s as if the players are directly participating in the story, rather than just imagining it as readers. To justify the very fact of a movie adaptation, you have to try really hard, and sometimes it works – the example of The Last of Us is proof of that.

And sometimes it doesn’t work out – the sad proof was the new film ‘Borderlands’, which currently has a dismal 5.8 on Kinopoisk, and it is unlikely that this will change. Unfortunately, this film is not the only failure in the field of video game adaptations. We have collected 10 more.

10 Video Game Movies Worse Than Borderlands (Yes, That’s Possible)

Fans of the Borderlands series will certainly understand the disappointment that fans feel about the unfortunate stories that have become part of our list. “Assassin’s Creed” – the name of Michael Fassbender alone once made fans of the cult series Assassin’s Creed hope for a really cool adaptation.

What a disappointment awaited them! “Assassin’s Creed” can hardly be called a shadow of the original games, and there is much more artistry and drama in the cutscenes from the Ezio Auditore trilogy than in the film about the Spanish Inquisition.

Borderlands fans are now experiencing much the same thing – compared to the game, the new film looks like a clichéd misunderstanding, and neither Cate Blanchett nor Kevin Hart can save it.
