In Zero, it was not possible to prevent a nuclear apocalypse. Kokoro defended Japan and a few other areas, because he was strong enough to strike back at his opponent.

It turns out that John Conner was able to delay Judgment Day, and in the cartoon this happened in 1997.

Thanks to Malcolm’s technology, some countries have survived, but danger still lurks on the horizon as Kokoro has not yet decided whether humanity deserves the right to live.

Interestingly, Skynet’s original plan in the anime version is to prevent the activation of another AI, for which it sends the Terminator. For the same purpose, Eiko also travels to the past.

The creators may reveal more details about the future in the second season, but for now the continuation of the story remains in doubt.
