Sixteenth in line to the Monegasque throne, Pauline Ducruet has been used to being in the limelight for 28 years. At first she thought that her professional career would develop for the keyboard and give free rein to her knowledge in fashion, but it wasn’t like that: “I thought I wanted to be a fashion editor, but when I got into the publication I realized me that this wasn’t for me,” he said in an interview, also acknowledging how difficult it was to realize reality in the fashion universe: “The same thing happened to me at Louis Vuitton, but it taught me a lot about the fashion industry, mainly because not everything is glitz and glamour. I learned that it is a very heavy industry that costs your soul, your sweat and your tears. But then I knew I wanted to design.”

As for her style references, Pauline has it clearly and very close to her mother and grandmother. What to say about the mythical? Grace Kelly, that even today it is openly talked about as a reference. “I’ve seen my mother dress up for galas, with long dresses and diamonds, and then drive us to school the next day in ripped jeans and huge boots,” says Ducruet. The essence of his mother inspired him to create fashion at Alter: “You can find that in my collections: the two worlds, the luxury and the rebellious knitwear. My mother is a strong woman who expresses herself through fashion, just like my grandmother. The two were style icons for their time and said loud and clear what they were thinking,” he explains.
