The actor has a specific taste in cinema.
Andy Serkis can easily be called one of the most amazing and flexible actors in Hollywood, able to adapt to any role. He starred in the films The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, Marvel and DC Comics, and therefore it is not surprising that his favorite films are as different from each other as possible.

In the late 1970s, Serkis watched the movie “Apocalypse Now,” which changed his life once and for all and ultimately convinced him that he should try to become a great actor, and then a director, to film something like that.
“I saw it in 1979, when it first came out, on 70mm film in Paris. I didn’t know what to expect and it was just amazing. This film really stuck with me and gave me a huge foundation as a director, it has always been my reference,” said Serkis in an interview with FaroutMagazine.
But ‘Apocalypse’ is not at all the kind of film you want to see regularly, and Andy comes much closer to the film ‘The Piano’ in this regard.
“It gently touches my heart and it never gets old to watch. I just love this movie.”
Otto Perminger’s Anatomy of a Murder fascinated Serkis with its excellent score by jazz legend Duke Ellington, and The Sound of Music remains the filmmaker’s favorite movie to cry to to this day.
Another film, ‘Whale Rider’, was loved by the star of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ for exactly the same reason. The coming-of-age drama brings the actor to tears, no matter what mood he is in to watch it.
Quentin Tarantino, who turned out to be a fan of category B horror, has no less specific tastes.
