Australian man accidentally sent THOUSANDS of votes for The Voice

An Australian man accidentally got thousands of votes for The Voice Australia because his phone number was just one digit from the number used in the contest.

A Brisbane man named Antoni, 50, said his phone has been full of text messages and calls since the polls started on May 22: news.com.au.

“I deleted the first face (post) because I thought I was spamming people not knowing that they were upvoting. “I didn’t see the show and didn’t know why people were sending me the names of the contestants,” he said.

“When I saw an ad with a mobile number only, I realized how close it was to my number and the coin dropped,” he continued.

Antoni explained that he had “several thousand text messages” and “several hundred voicemails”.

She says she woke up with her phone ringing all night and texts all day.

Channel Seven apologized to Antoni for the inconvenience, he told News.com.au.

The majority of the votes went to the winner of the contest, Lachie Gill.

Votes sent to Antoni’s phone were not counted in the official contest data.

Lachie was crowned The Voice Australia’s 2022 winner, and some fans of the show were not happy with the decision.

The 24-year-old Victorian clashed with fellow finalists Thado Sikwila, Jordan Tavita and Faith Sosene, with some arguing that her victory was not justified.

Several viewers shared on Twitter their belief that Lachie only won because she was white.

Lachie told Daily Mail Australia on Monday that he understands there will always be “doubt” but would not participate in any discussion about whether race played a role in his victory.

“There are always doubts and I’m not going to get along,” Lachie said the day after she was crowned the winner of the Channel Seven talent show.

“I am so grateful to my fans who voted for me and showed their support,” he added.

The physical education teacher announced that she plans to do this. He uses the $100,000 cash prize to buy a house or invest in his music career.

“I will never be the one to buy jewelry or a car. I’ll make sure it ends up somewhere that will benefit me in the future, Lachie told Daily Mail Australia.
