An infamous interview with Tom Cruise staring at reporter Peter Overton went viral 17 years after it was first aired.

2005 footage of Cruise angrily telling his 60 Minutes interviewer to “take back his justice” after asking about Tom’s ex Nicole Kidman was tweeted by @responsiblerob last week.

It has since been viewed more than 2.1 million times.

In an interview that took place four years after the couple’s divorce, Overton asked Cruise, “Is Nicole the love of your life?” she asked.

Cruise asked: ‘What do you mean, Peter? How would you answer this question?’

When Overton later asked what kind of relationship the ex-couple had, Cruise lost his temper and told the Nine reporter, “You’re crossing the line right now. You cross the border and you know it is.

But Cruise interrupted him and said, “Peter. Peter. you want to know. Take responsibility for what you want to know.

“Now I’m telling you, okay, back to etiquette.”

“I can’t imagine this guy talking to me like that. I was going to start crying. This is so scary,” she tweeted.

“Literally spooky without screaming once,” wrote another.

Overton, 56, spoke about the frightening interview during a 2020 interview with The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Radio host Kyle Sandilands said, “What were you thinking then? When were you betrayed on camera by Tom Cruise? Think to yourself, how do I appear respectful but also responsible for the interview?’

Overton explained: “I kept who I was and didn’t get angry. He did. So I kept it to myself and said it was the right question.

“I don’t have strong feelings for Tom. It was one of those moments,” she added.

Overton said he tried to make things right with Cruise after the interview, but was a little surprised by the whole experience.
