Reunion of the twins! Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito embrace lovingly almost 40 years after the legendary comedy: “I can’t wait to work together again!”

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito kicked off 2024 with a twin reunion.

The Terminator actor took to his Instagram on Friday to share a photo of himself hugging DeVito and DeVito’s daughter Lucy DeVito on the set of their Broadway play.

‘My brother! “It was great to see Danny in I Need That on Broadway,” Schwarzenegger captioned the sweet photo. “He, Lucy and everyone involved kept the audience entertained, laughing and loving every minute – one of the best plays I’ve ever seen, a real spectacle with heart and soul!!”

Schwarzenegger and DeVito shared the screen in the 1988 film Twins, which portrayed genetically engineered siblings whose paths only crossed in adulthood. It was Schwarzenegger’s first attempt at a comedic role and was a huge success at the box office.

“I can’t wait to work together again,” the former California governor added in his social media post.

The legendary stars were attached to a long-in-the-making sequel to Twins called Triplets, which would see the brothers discover they are actually triplets.

There were reports suggesting that Eddie Murphy would join the cast of the sequel and, more recently, Tracy Morgan would take on the new role.

However, the project was put on hold after the original film’s director, Ivan Reitman, died in February 2022 at the age of 75.

Ivan’s son and Hollywood heavyweight director Jason Reitman was subsequently nominated for the film, but according to Schwarzenegger, he was the one who greenlit the film.

“Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died,” Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter in May.

“His father really wanted to do it.” I really wanted to do it. “Danny DeVito really wanted to do it,” he continued.

“We had the financing. When his father died, Jason said, “I never liked the idea” and called it a day.

Schwarzenegger said he was currently “working on a new film with Danny” and continued, “He’s a joy to work with and his talent is remarkable.”

During a November interview with GQ about his role in “I Need That,” DeVito jokingly suggested that Schwarzenegger “may have chosen Twins 2 instead of going into politics as governor.”
