Gary Sinise receives an outstanding service award from the military veterans organization Heroes Linked

Gary Sinise, a longtime advocate for service members and military veterans, will be honored tonight with the prestigious service award from Heroes Linked.

The nonprofit, which hosts its annual gala at the Beverly Hilton, serves veterans, military spouses, military members transitioning to civilian life and Gold Star families. This includes efforts to secure housing and offer student aid.

Joe Mantegna, last year’s honoree, will present the award to Sinise. They regularly co-hosted the National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, DC

Sinise founded the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011 to support veterans and first responders, including by building custom homes for seriously injured soldiers and providing equipment and training.

James Colbert, CEO of Heroes Linked, said in a statement that Sinise “is not only a famous Hollywood figure, but also an advocate dedicated to the well-being of our nation’s heroes.” Through his tireless efforts, he became one “He became a model of support for veterans and active duty military personnel and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he served.” The event also includes an appearance by JD Hinton.
