Write everything down! TV legend Tom Selleck, best known for his starring role as Detective Thomas Magnum on the 1980s TV show “Magnum, PI,” releases his memoir
A description of You Never Know on Amazon reveals that the “famed actor takes readers on his little-known but serendipitous journey to the top of the entertainment industry with “his own voice and a uniquely unpretentious style.”
The father of two’s memoir also details his “temptations and distractions, his failures and mistakes and, over time, his well-deserved success.”
Along the way, Selleck will “dispel a host of misconceptions and share dozens of untold stories from all areas of his personal and professional life” and from his “wild childhood in California.”
The Friends actor will recount his rise to the big screen in his mid-30s and his friendship with stars such as Frank Sinatra, Carol Burnett and Sam Elliott.
From a household name playing basketball at the University of Southern California to “Jock Days” at the University of Southern California, Selleck apparently spared no detail when he put pen to paper.
Magnum fans also get an explanation as to why he left the show, “which could easily have gone on for years.”
He will give a rare glimpse into his personal life and how he “often” changed his career to protect his family’s privacy and normality.
Ultimately, the editor of his novel promises that “for all the charm, talent and self-deprecation, Selleck’s memoir reveals an American icon who reached remarkable heights by always wanting to be himself.”
