For Rebecca Loos, it was an unforgettable party. But for the wrong reasons.
It was September 22, 2003, and Rebecca and her colleagues were beside themselves with excitement when they arrived at Brazilian striker Ronaldo’s home in an exclusive neighborhood in the north of Madrid.
His birthday celebrations were lavish and legendary, and this was no exception. “There was delicious food, a samba band from Brazil and champagne flowing,” Rebecca recalls.
At the time, she was in the middle of a relationship with Ronaldo’s Real Madrid colleague David Beckham, but to her dismay she found him “hiding at the end of the garden” while she was talking to a beautiful Spanish model.

“It hurt,” recalls Rebecca, Beckham’s former personal assistant. But their night would take an even worse turn. Her cell phone rings. It was Victoria Beckham who was looking for her husband.
“She is angry because she calls David and he doesn’t answer,” she says. “I said I don’t know where he is… And she said: ‘Don’t hang up, go find him.
I thought: ‘Okay…’ ‘So it’s a bit difficult. I went into the house and up the stairs and saw David’s two bodyguards at a door.”
With a thunderous look, Beckham spoke quietly to his wife and handed Rebecca her phone back. David and Victoria Beckham are pictured together in London, April 2004.
She describes whispering, “It’s Victoria!” and mimics holding a phone.
‘He [one of the bodyguards] disappear,” she adds. “When he returns, David will be with him. I see the model lying on the bed in the background. I see it’s a bedroom. I was angry and just looked at him, handed him the phone and said, “Your wife.”
With a thunderous look, Beckham spoke quietly to his wife and handed Rebecca her phone back.
“I was so hurt,” she recalls. “It was just a terrible feeling and I thought to myself: ‘You stupid idiot’.”
“But he had me, he had his claws in me, and I stood by him.”
