Troy Kotsur and Marlee Matlin present the 2023 Media Access Awards

CODA Actors Troy Kotsur and Marlee Matlin will host the 2023 Media Access Awards next month. This is the first time that two deaf artists will host an award ceremony together.

Presented by the Media Access Awards and the nonprofit Easterseals Southern California, the Media Access Awards recognize artists and film and television projects featuring characters and actors with disabilities. This year’s awards show takes place on Tuesday, November 7th in Hollywood and will air Sunday, December 3rd at 9:00pm (PT) on KCET and Friday, December 15th at 8:00pm (PT) on PBS SoCal, with streaming on both websites and on the free PBS app.

“2023 has been another incredible year for diversity on screen and inclusion in the disability community,” said Media Access Awards Co-Executive Officers Deborah Calla and Allen Rucker. “We can’t wait to once again recognize these talented people for their strong efforts to advance disability representation in film and television.”

This year’s winners include Simon Cowell; Dahmer director Paris Barclay; New Amsterdam authors Peter Horton and David Schulner; The sex lives of college girls actress Lauren “Lolo” Spencer; casting agents Danielle Aufiero and Amber Horn; Still: A Michael J. Fox film producer Davis Guggenheim; And Daruma Actor Tobias Forrest receives the Christopher Reeve Acting Award.

The 2023 Media Access Awards are produced by Calla Productions and co-produced by PBS SoCal/KCET with executive producers Deborah Calla and show writer Allen Rucker.
