Kirsty Lee Akers and Jesse Anderson of The Block explain how they spent their $301,000 prize money

Block stars Kirsty Lee Akers and Jesse Anderson made $301,000 from the show after their beautiful home went under the hammer last year.

The couple revealed that they spent their prize money not for the holidays, but to renovate their home in Wangi Wangi on Lake Macquarie.

“We’re putting everything into the renovation we’re doing right now, I hope it’s been enough,” country music star Kirsty told the Daily Mail Australia.

Jesse added: “We’re spreading it pretty thin.”

The cost of trade and the shortage of commercial supplies are driving up renovation prices, he said.

“We’re moving different things, construction workers putting the kitchen together, juggling,” Kirsty said.

The couple said that after their time on the show, they’re better equipped to take on the challenges of makeup this time around.

“We remember the fun moments, but we always considered the endgame, it was the most incredible and difficult experience of our lives, it was very rewarding,” he added.

Sold: Their home on The Block sold for $4,401,523.67, leaving their childhood sweethearts a profit of $301,523.67.

“We’re not professionals (sic), but we’re going to enter our Rhine with a lot more experience than we would have without The Block. This color we’re making is pretty much the same size as The Block… We entered The Block without knowing what we were doing”.

They also said that despite some tough moments on The Block, they would be willing to redo everything if the opportunity arises.

The couple supports Optus Tradie Pit Stop, which aims to support local craftsmen in their work to stay connected with their community and business contacts. Three events took place at Miter 10 this month in NSW, QLD and VIC.

We’re really excited to be involved, we went to Mona Vale’s shop and talked to traditional folks who came to talk about how they could free up a little bit of their time,” Kirsty explained.

“They’re trying to remove some of this traditional pressure to spend more time with family and friends, especially on weekends… We’ve been Optus customers for seven years… I’m a big support for that.” traditions that are fantastic,” he concluded.
