The March Oscars last 95 years.
Today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the 95th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 12, 2023, marking the March event for the second consecutive time since the year of this show was held on March 27. The show will air live on ABC from Ovation Hollywood’s Dolby Theater. Nominations will be announced on January 24, 2023.
The authority reverts to the 12-month calendar year, after two pandemic-affected periods, respectively 14 months in 2020-21 and 10 months of the previous year, in which eligibility lasted from March to December. For several years, the show ran until February, the last of which was the 92nd Academy Awards before closing on 7th February 2020. On 25th April 2021, the 93rd Academy Awards took place.
