Twenty One Pilots lead singer Tyler Joseph has said his group will be on the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack until lead actor and producer Tom Cruise allows them to leave the high-profile project.
Giuseppe, 33, said in a meeting with KROQ on Friday that he and 33-year-old drummer Josh Dun are working on the soundtrack for the highly anticipated sequel.
“I was writing a new song for them with the new Top Gun’s music locator, and then I believed Tom Cruise walked in and fired everybody,” Joseph said.
Tyler Joseph, 33, lead singer of The Last: Twenty One Pilots, said his band will be featured on the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack until 59-year-old lead actor and producer Tom Cruise makes them. Joseph was caught in New York last fall.
An insider told Billboard that the Ohio-based duo were never officially signed to perform on the film’s soundtrack.
Joseph said Twenty One Pilots was “part of” major changes being made to the film amid multiple delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, as the preview of the film first aired in July 2019.
Joseph said he saw “some scenes” from the high-profile movie starring Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Val Kilmer and Jon Hamm.
“They brought me in to show some scenes and stuff like that, and I don’t think I’ve really started writing,” artist Heathens said. “Actually it was very shortly after they brought me here to show some parts of what they were looking for and stuff like that, that’s when I got a message that it was a wholesale trade-in.”

Joseph said he and 33-year-old drummer Josh Dun are working on the soundtrack for the highly anticipated sequel.

Joseph said that Tom Cruise (pictured last week in Top Gun: Maverick in San Diego) “walked in and fired everybody.”

Lady Gaga is the protagonist of the summer blockbuster soundtrack with the ballad Hold My Hand; she also collaborated with Hans Zimmer and Harold Faltermeyer on the soundtrack for the movie she.
Other artists and songs included in the compilation, according to Amazon’s listing, are Kenny Loggins from the original 1986 Danger Zone hit; I’m not worried about OneRepublic; and a remake of Teller’s Jerry Lee Lewis movie Great Balls of Fire.
Top Gun: Maverick hits theaters May 27.
