Looking like a mini-me of her famous dad, Natalia delivered a beautiful speech at the ceremony, calling Kobe “MVP Dads to Girls” for People. “Dad, you are an icon, a legend, the storyteller and most importantly, the best father to a girl any girl could dream of,” she said. “I am honored to be here to represent you and our family, and we are extremely proud of you. We will love you forever and ever. With love, Natalia, Gianna, Bianka, Capri and mum.

In an emotional show, Bianka and Capri got their hands inside their father’s footprints in the concrete of the iconic theatre. “I encourage you to put your hands in him and take a moment to be in his shoes,” Natalia added. “This will be a treasure for the city of Los Angeles and my father’s fans around the world to cherish and cherish.”

Kobe made his mark in 2011 when he became the first athlete to have his hands and feet imprinted in concrete at the legendary Chinese Theatre. To honor him and pay homage to his love for Los Angeles, the theater has decided to permanently place his hand and footprints in the courtyard of the Hollywood Boulevard venue.

The tribute comes after Vanessa returned to the Lakers arena last week for the first time since Kobe and Gianna’s memorial service in February 2020. She paid tribute to Kobe’s friend and teammate, Paul Gasol, whose jersey had been retired. “I love you little sis,” Paul told Vanessa at the event. “I am proud to be your brother. I am proud to be the uncle of your lovely girls.

The handprint ceremony also follows news that Kobe’s widow has reached a $28.5 million settlement with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors over leaked photos of the helicopter crash. “Today marks the successful completion of Ms. Bryant’s efforts to hold accountable those who engaged in this grotesque conduct,” Vanessa’s attorney said in a March statement to People. “She fought for her husband, her daughter and everyone in the community whose deceased family was treated with the same disrespect. We hope her victory in the process and this settlement will put an end to this practice.”
