“Akin to Perversion”: Emilia Clarke refused to perform in this bed scene

“Game of Thrones” could lose its main plot twist.

The highly anticipated bed scene between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones may not have happened at all. Emilia Clarke was very ashamed of the circumstances.

According to the Daily Mail, Emilia was worried that after the series premiere she would meet a wave of criticism from fans: after all, they already know that Daenerys and Jon are related, and they can strongly condemn the heroes for the connection. Plus, she’s good friends with Kit Harington, and it would be very embarrassing to film a scene like that. But the writers managed to convince the actress that this is a necessary moment for the further development of events. She agreed.

“For us as actors, it was a perversion. After all, we knew that the heroes would soon have to find out who they were to each other, and I had no idea how this would be taken,” Clarke admitted.

Unlike his colleague, Kit Harington treated the love scene with philosophical composure.

“When you feel such a strong attraction to someone and you’ve been through such trials together, it’s like a train with no brakes, you still can’t stop it. I think it was inevitable somewhere in the middle of the seventh season: Daenerys and Jon Snow would be in bed,” said Harington.

By the way, the actors’ characters experienced exactly the opposite feelings: John, learning about his relationship with Dany, began to be tormented by feelings of honor and pangs of conscience, but Daenerys, on the contrary, was not ashamed.
