The NAACP Image Awards recognize the accomplishments and achievements of people of color in more than 80 competitive categories. A week-long celebration concludes with a televised gala at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California. Scroll through the gallery below to see all the red carpet looks from the event.
Early winners of the awards included Rihanna and Beyoncé in the musical categories. Quinta Bronson was recognized for her work on Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series Abbot Primary School with her co-stars Tyler James Williams and Janelle James also collecting trophies. Other television actors who won this year are Cedric the Entertainer for the neighborhoodCliff “Method Man” Smith for Power Book II: Spirit and Loretta Devine P Valley. Neicy Nash-Betts was recognized for her work on Dahmer – Monsters: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer and Sherri Shepherd won for Outstanding Talk Series.
On the film side, Angela Bassett continued to do “the thing” and won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwhile the film’s villain, played by Tenoch Huerta, also picked one up. Bantu Mum received the Outstanding International Award while Jalyn Hall or To received the trophy for outstanding breakthrough achievement.
