In an EXCLUSIVE interview with hollywood lifethe famous friends talked about how their Olympic experience prepared them for their fun night court episode aired on Tuesday 21 February.

“There are always deals for both of us,” Tara said with a smile. “We always say, ‘If you’re not nervous, you don’t care,’ so we’re always nervous, both as athletes and as commentators on live TV. So those little nerves and adrenaline when you walk into the courtroom… it’s something we know all too well.”

“I agree,” Johnny interjected. “Tara and I have experience as actors, but we don’t act together much. So any chance we get to spend time with our best friend is time well spent. And we love it and we’d love to keep doing it, acting. But in reality, we are very optimistic about life and our careers and are very grateful for every opportunity we get. So when ‘Night Court’ called, we were like, ‘Are you busy this weekend?’ No. “Are you busy?” No. ‘Let’s go there.’”

And they certainly did! Tara and Johnny absolutely slay while playing themselves in the episode where Judge Abby Stone (melissa rauch) is in a race against time to meet them, her two favorite celebrities, in her courthouse. “It’s pretty crazy and I think that’s why it’s supposed to be,” Tara explained. “I met Johnny Weir, he’s a small world of sports, but when we first spent time together, I always remembered him feeling like he was my long lost soulmate. And you know, in our sport we were individual athletes so focused on ourselves and it’s such a competitive sport that I think what we have is so rare and it’s something I wouldn’t trade for anything. We just formed a pretty amazing friendship and bond, and when we were finally paired and matched, at least for me, I felt like it should be.

Johnny was a little more succinct when he began by saying, “We don’t fight.” He then added: “First of all, in the world where we come from, it is very rare to find a friend. It’s so competitive and there’s so little chance of opportunity in the sport – only one person can be an Olympic champion, right? And your whole life comes down to six minutes in front of the world if you get to the Olympics, so with that kind of background it can be very difficult to normalize.

“Tara and I…I want her to succeed more than I want to. And I know she feels the same way,” Johnny continued. « And you can’t pretend. People have always asked us from the beginning, like ‘Is this just for the camera?’ and, I mean, we would be Meryl Streep If only we could act with that touch and that love.”

I can’t wait.” Tara shared.

“My parents were really excited for us to do this reboot,” Johnny said. “And honestly, I haven’t had a minute to sit down and really absorb what happened, but I know it’s getting great ratings and people love it. It makes me very proud. And of course NBC is our home for our Olympic coverage and we are always so excited when something so special happens for our Peacock family.”
