Martin McDonagh, three-time Oscar nominee this year for writing, directing and producing Banshees of Inisherin, is also going to the BAFTA Awards this weekend and is also in with a chance of winning the DGA Award. It’s a busy time for the filmmaker behind it In Bruges, three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, And 7 psychopaths. He’s also an Oscar winner for a short film he directed, and of course he’s also an award-winning playwright.
He joins me for this week’s edition of my Behind the Lens Deadline video series where he reveals that he always preferred filmmaking to writing for the stage – although he certainly had great success in both. We also talk about why he enjoys working with the same people over and over again, starting his own representation company, the challenges of bringing art to life on screen and where he’s headed.
Click on the video above to watch our conversation and go ‘behind the lens’ with Martin McDonagh.
Join me every Friday during Oscar season for a new installment of Behind the Lens.
