Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore and the show’s new host Maya Jama appeared to ignore each other as they sat at the same table at the 2023 Brit Awards.

The awkward moment arrived at London’s 02 Arena on Saturday night as music stars gathered for the annual event.

Photos and video show the two women standing right next to each other at the ITV table – but they seem only interested in chatting to other people on either side of them, even turning their backs at one point.

A source told MailOnline that the pair sat together at the ITV table but “didn’t speak to each other once during the ceremony”.

“Maya happily spoke to Laura’s husband, Iain Stirling, but she never once spoke to Laura. There is definitely some tension between them.’

Maya (28) took over the presenter of the winter series in South Africa from Laura (37) this year and has been a big hit among fans since his appointment.

It comes after it was revealed Maya is currently winning in the television world as Love Island bosses have given her 50 per cent more airtime than former presenter Laura.

After just four days of the latest winter series, Maya has already spent 19 minutes and 55 seconds on the popular TV show.

In the same episode of the previous series, Laura clocked just 13 minutes and 26 seconds.

Maya became the host of Love Island this year after Laura left the show shortly after three series due to travel time issues now that she is a new mother.

It has been hinted that the producers plan to keep Maya on the show for a while as she is “now a major TV force to reckon with”.
