The Woman King wins at the 23rd Annual Black Reel Awards

The queen of women which beat all the competition at the Black Reel Awards this year. With six wins out of fourteen nominations The queen of women Earn wins in Outstanding Motion Picture, Outstanding Director, Outstanding Ensemble, Breakthrough Actress, Outstanding Score and Outstanding Adaptation.

Gina Prince-Bythewood’s riveting epic about the warrior women of Dahomey narrowly surpassed Marvel’s superhero film. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which itself brought 5 Black Reel wins. entering the night Wakanda forever was connected The queen of women with fourteen nominations. With her third win of the Black Reel Award for Outstanding Costume Design for Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverThe fabulous Ruth E. Carter became the most decorated technical honoree in Black Reel history.

Actress Angela Bassett also made Black Reel history by becoming the first woman ever to win an acting and honorary award in the same year. Mrs. Bassett won Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and also received the prestigious Sidney Poitier Trailblazer Award in recognition of her distinguished acting career. Bassett joins Jamie Foxx, the only other honoree who won the 2005 Vanguard Award and Outstanding Actor Award for Ray.

Independent studio A24 received 10 nominations for it The inspection and conceded four wins thanks to Jeremy Pope, who received two awards (Outstanding Actor and Breakthrough Actor). Writer-director Elegance Bratton couldn’t be outdone by the Pope, also winning two awards for Outstanding Independent Film and First Screenplay.
