rebecca heart gay was charged with manslaughter in 2001 after running over and killing a nine-year-old boy in 2001. She pleaded not guilty and was sentenced to three years probation, a $2,800 fine, one year license suspension and 750 hours of community service .
Rebecca opened up about the boy’s death in a 2019 interview. “I was in a really terrible accident,” she shared. “A 9-year-old boy died. And, you know, everything has changed since that and I still have a hard time talking about it.
The star has revealed the mental toll that death still has on her to this day. “I didn’t handle it very well after that,” she said. “I just didn’t want to live after that incident. This is what happened. I couldn’t handle it. So I spent about a year trying to kill myself, basically doing all the self-destructive things a person can do.
“I just didn’t get it. I didn’t understand any of this. Up until that point I had led a charmed life, even though I grew up very poor… It just turned my world upside down and I lost faith in everything, asking God, like, ‘Why me? Why George?’”
She continued to reflect, “I still have these questions, but today I can reflect on these questions and still realize that I deserve to be happy and that I am meant to be on this planet and that I have a purpose and am making peace with life at his cause. , even if it was an accident. However, she was sympathetic, noting that she “can’t imagine how her parents still feel.”
