After Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer began production in New Mexico last month, the star-studded cast and crew began in Los Angeles.
Josh Hartnett, Josh Peck, and Matthew Modine were among the high-profile names seen as characters on the set of the WWII epic.
Based on the American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who, together with his colleagues from the Manhattan Project, developed the first atomic bombs dropped on Japan in 1945.
Preparing for action: 43-year-old Josh Hartnett looked like the American nuclear physicist who won the 1939 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Epic Endeavor: Josh Peck, 35, and Matthew Modine, 63, were among the first stars to appear as characters on the set of Oppenheimer.
All three actors – Hartnett, Peck and Modine – looked like exact replicas in terms of retro costumes, grayish wool pants, matching vest and tie, and white shirts.
The 43-year-old Hartnet also wore a pair of brown leather shoes reminiscent of the pre-WWII era, steel-rimmed glasses, and dark brown hair, some of which was cropped short to the right.
Peck, 35, seemed to save some phone calls between scenes.
Filming seemed to be going well for Modine, who was wearing a wool suit except for the blazer that was popular in the 1940s, judging by the big, radiant smile on her face.

Dress: Cillian Murphy, 45, dressed as J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Filming: While preparing backstage, Matt Damon looked like Lieutenant General Leslie Richard Groves Jr., with a mustache and dressed in a military uniform.
Hartnett plays Ernest Lawrence, one of the scientists working on the Manhattan Project.
Pioneering American nuclear physicist won the 1939 Nobel Prize in Physics for his invention of the cyclotron, a particle accelerator.
Lawrence would later become known for his work on uranium isotope separation for the Manhattan Project.
Peck plays the American physicist Kenneth Bainbridge, who was the Trinity nuclear testing director of the Manhattan Project during the development of the first atomic weapons.
No details have been announced so far about the character Modine will play.

On set: DeHaan, 36, was also recently spotted on set in a US Army uniform
Last week, Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Dane DeHaan, and Casey Affleck were spotted on set in full costume.
Murphy, 45, playing J. Robert Oppenheimer, was seen filming a scene for the movie, while Damon, 51, looked like Lieutenant General Leslie Richard Groves Jr., with a mustache and dressed in an army uniform. scenes.
Similarly, DeHaan, 36, wore a US Army uniform while touring the set and was apparently excited to shoot the next scene.
The stellar cast also includes Emily Blunt (Katherine ‘Kitty’ Oppenheimer), Robert Downey Jr. (Lewis Strauss), Florence Pugh (Jean Tatlock), Rami Malek, Benny Safdie (Edwar Saldie), Jack Quaid, Kenneth Branagh, Jason Clarke, Oliivia Thirby and Gary Oldma, among others.
The film is an adaptation of Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s 2006 book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Kai’s book follows Oppenheimer’s life as he develops the atomic bomb as head of the Manhattan Project.

First Look: In February, Universal Pictures released a bleak first look at 45-year-old Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the biopic.
Shortly after the bombs were detonated in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, Oppenheimer began lobbying for nuclear weapons control to prevent a nuclear war with Russia.
He was elected chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, although he was also a target of the House’s Commission on Un-American Activities.
Oppenheimer died of throat cancer at the age of 62 in 1967, after years of smoking.
Filming for Nolan is expected to take more than five months after filming began in late February. If it stays on track, it will last until the beginning of August.
Oppenheimer is the first film to be shot in IMAX black and white analog photography, although it is unknown whether it will be shot entirely in black and white.
Universal Pictures has set a vision date of July 21, 2023 for Oppenheimer.
The current release date is expected to come about two weeks before the heartbreaking anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945.

Acclaimed director Christopher Nolan (left) directs the epic story; The British director, known for films such as Memento, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar and Dunkirk, will hit theaters on April 13 in Princeton, New Jersey.
