Janelle Monáe turned heads when she debuted her groundbreaking style on the red carpet at the BAFTA Tea Party in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

The 37-year-old singer, who uses the pronouns she/she and she/them, caught the attention of photographers by showing off her very peculiar dog-shaped bag.

She styled the fun handbag with a black three-piece set with a doodle-like floral pattern.

Monáe consisted of two jackets, one resting on the star’s shoulders, and an ankle-length wrap skirt.

They completed the look with a crisp white button down and sleek black bow tie.

Monáe walked the red carpet black high heels and with a tall black top hat on her head.

The BAFTA Tea Party is an invitation-only event open to members of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and their guests.

This year’s event was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills and featured Cate Blanchett, Kate Hudson, Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh and other movie stars.

She clutched her funky purse with a collar and red, black and white stripes on the back as she posed for the cameras.
