A script was written, pre-production was underway, and then Boseman’s sudden death on August 28, 2020 at the age of 43 from colon cancer.

“How to deal with his absence narratively in a way that feels fair?” was a challenge Moore said to him, Marvel and filmmaker Ryan Coogler.

“It was the only way that felt authentic. We knew we were reacting to death, but the world clearly did,” explains Moore on the latest episode of Crew Call.

“It felt like the most authentic thing you could do as a storyteller,” Moore says of Boseman’s death, “to use this thing as fuel.”

“It never occurred to me to reorganize,” he adds.

Wakanda forever became a film about a young woman who finds her sense of strength and purpose in the world through grief, namely T’Challa’s sister Shuri, played by Letitia Wright.

“She goes through that right of way, goes through the stages of grief,” Moore explains, “to find out who she is and if grief will consume her or if she will come out the other side and become a heroine. . . . She had to walk through fire and find out who she is.”

“It’s no secret that the X-Men come home when you talk about Storm and Bishop, they’re two of the big characters in this franchise,” Moore says, emphasizing “we’re early, early.” this reboot.

And as for other Marvel properties to be exploited on the big screen, we finally get to see Harry Styles’ turn as Starfox eternal.

“We didn’t cast Harry for a day,” said Moore, who also produced this MCU title, “(there are) more stories to tell with this character.”

“He has an interesting connection with Thanos; They are half-brothers and have the same father.”

Adds Moore, “He’s a complicated character, but a really fun character.”
