Jeremiah Green was diagnosed with stage four cancer.

Mother Carol Namatame took to Facebook on Sunday and asked fans to “please send healing feelings to my son.”

The musician is one of the group’s co-founders and formed the group in 1993 with bassist Eric Judy and frontman Isaac Brock.

Carol also wrote that her son “is battling stage 4 cancer” and “he is so strong and so brave and persistent.”

The type of cancer was not disclosed.

Veteran radio DJ Marco Collins also shared the news on his social media page, revealing that Jeremiah “left the band’s tour” to seek treatment.

He wrote: “Just found out that my friend Jeremiah Green (Modest Mouse) has canceled the band’s tour as he is currently undergoing chemotherapy to fight stage 4 cancer.

“Despite a stage 4 diagnosis, his prognosis is good! His oncologist is also a big MM fan (so he has one in his corner!).

“I send him nothing but healing love energy! Get well soon friend. We’re all signing for you!’

Jeremiah appeared on the early dates of the Modest Mouse Tour before receiving treatment following his diagnosis.

He has only been absent from the band since their inception in 1993 between 2003 and 2004, meaning that the only album he does not appear on is Good News For People Who Love Bad News.

The band announced earlier this year that they would be releasing “seven new songs” in the new year.

Frontman Isaac said: “We’ll have seven new songs coming out soon. When we finished the last album, it was a thorn in my side that everyone was like, “Why is it taking so long to put out records?”

“Because I find other interests! Not all good, but fuck it! I don’t want to answer that question anymore, so I have a record I’m very happy with.’
