British holidaymakers can stretch their money further in Turkey, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Japan this year, according to new research from currency provider Eurochange.
The study reveals that 22 per cent of Britons are increasing their holiday budgets to cope with rising flight prices, higher jet fuel costs and squeezed household budgets.
Despite broader financial pressures on travellers, foreign exchange rates mean Great British pounds yield up to 25 per cent more local currency in select popular destinations compared to 2025.
Turkey delivers the biggest gain for British holidaymakers, offering 25 per cent more Turkish lira per pound than last year. A sum of £100 converted to TRY 4,797 in 2025, whereas travellers in 2026 receive TRY 6,396.
The shift significantly lowers day-to-day costs in Turkish resort cities such as Antalya, situated along the Mediterranean coast. A three-course dinner for two in Antalya cost around £39.03 last year, but has dropped to £31.22 in 2026, saving couples £7.81.
A pint of local beer in Antalya has fallen from £2.93 in 2025 to £2.34 this year. A session at a traditional Turkish bathhouse now costs £28.10, compared to £35.12 previously.
Savings in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is also offering improved value for UK visitors, with exchange rates providing 14 per cent more Sri Lankan rupees than in 2025. Exchanging £100 yields Rs 45,030 in 2026, up from Rs 39,500 the previous year.
Visitors to the island nation's capital, Colombo, are seeing reduced prices across dining and wellness services. A three-course meal in Colombo has fallen from £21.29 in 2025 to around £18.76 this year, while the price of a pint of beer dropped from £1.83 to £1.61.
Traditional Ayurvedic massages, a holistic wellness practice in Sri Lanka that dates back centuries, are also cheaper for British tourists. A treatment that cost £11.27 in 2025 has decreased to around £9.93 in 2026.
Cheaper Trips to Egypt
Egypt, which attracts one million British visitors each year to its ancient pyramids and Red Sea resorts, delivers 12 per cent more local currency per pound than in 2025. Holidaymakers converting £100 now receive E£68,992, compared to E£61,600 last year.
In the popular coastal resort city of Hurghada, a three-course meal costs an average of £3.37 less this year than in 2025. Visiting a hamam, a traditional Egyptian bathhouse, costs around £8.70, representing a saving of £1.01.
Lower Costs in Japan
Japan rounds out the list of cost-effective destinations as the Japanese yen continues to decline against the pound. UK travellers purchasing £100 worth of currency receive ¥22,684 in 2026, up 10 per cent from ¥19,726 in 2025.
In the capital city of Tokyo, a three-course restaurant meal that cost £36.59 last year now averages £32.86. A visit to a traditional Japanese sento, a public communal bathhouse, has also dropped slightly to £2.82, down 32p from 2025.
