April 19 is Bicycle Day. The date refers to April 19, 1943 because of a mystical experience of Albert Hoffman, the Swiss chemist who was the first to synthesize, ingest, and experiment with the effects of LSD. Hofmann was experimenting with this substance and decided to take a small amount. Three days earlier, he had accidentally consumed this drug, so he decided to do it again, albeit on purpose. At first he didn’t notice, but on the way home (by bike, of course) the druggist began to experience the effects of LSD. It is because of this experience that the journey back home is known as “Cycling Day”. In the 1980s, university professor Thombas B. Roberts wanted to commemorate Hofmann’s experience and organized a party at his own home in DeKalb, United States. And the rest is already history.
To celebrate, we spoke to an expert to find out if 20 minutes of exercise a day is really enough.
Is it enough to exercise for 20 minutes a day?
“It’s important during the week to add minutes and hours of activity and training each as you can. There are people who can invest an hour and a half three days a week in a row and there are people who do shorter sessions, but you can increase the frequency of days. In general, 20 minutes of exercise a day is not enough. Of the 168 hours a week has, we wouldn’t get three hours of exercise a week, so we should try to… be at least 30 minutes a day”, To explain Javier González, trainer and director of JG Fitness Coaching†
Keep in mind, of course, that it’s not about sports in any way. “I recommend 30 minutes of well-organized and structured exercise and at least at a moderate, vigorous intensity so that we can really see change and evolution,” adds the expert.
“We need to consider many variables to fully answer this question, as each person has a different context. Here we would be talking about a profile of a person without serious injuries, doing exercises with leisure health objective† But the most important thing is to take a time out every day to exercise, if I can only take 20 minutes a day we can start there and gradually increase this time. There are many ways to add minutes of exercise to our daily lives, which can help us combine workouts with our chaotic schedules,” says Javier Gonzalez.
“If you don’t know how to do it, put yourself in the hands of professionals who will help you organize your workouts so that they adapt to your daily life and are also effective,” concludes the expert.
