7 manicure ideas in the style of the nineties and zeros

If there’s a decade where we’re most inspired by fashion and beauty right now, it’s the 90s and 2000s.

Leather mini, glossy lips, thin eyebrows, make-up with a blue shade – it seems that the nostalgia of those times has reached its peak, because at every opportunity we see the trends of those years.

This era for manicure was no less interesting – a jacket, chrome trim and only an upcoming wave of creative nail art.

Manicurists are now rethinking the trends of previous decades. There are many new variants of the same classic jacket – micro jacket, multi-colored, deformed. But if you’re in the mood to revisit the Clueless and Mean Girls era, we’ve rounded up the most catchy nail trends celebrities followed in the ’90s and 2000s.

Read and choose the reference you will go to the master this time!

metallic

Metallic manicures were popular long before the Euphoria episode, where Alexa Demi (aka Maddie) appeared with long chrome nails. This was just one step towards the groundbreaking resurgence of another trend. And successful – the next day, the number of search queries for the phrase “chrome” manicure increased significantly. The only difference now is technique. A shimmer was used in the 2000s to create a metallic effect and is now rubbed off.

french and naked

“Naked” manicure with pale pink varnish or no coating has become the main thing for supermodels of the 90s. Therefore, Tom Bachik, the nail master of J. Lo, Selena Gomez and Margot Robbie, gave her an impressive name – ’90s supermodel nude, that is, nude like a ’90s supermodel. In the golden age it was indeed worn by Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Kate Moss.

Those same years saw the golden age of French manicure (although it originated in the 70s). Now there are so many variations of the jacket (by the way, we wrote about them here), that only the most devoted fans choose the classic with a white “smile”.

Now we can not imagine any modern musical artist without long extravagant nails, but in the 90s and 00s pop stars chose a short manicure in dark shades. For example, Christina Aguilera almost always took the stage with black nail polish.

red manicure

At the beginning of the 90s, there was not yet a wide selection among the shades of nail polishes. Red color has become one of the few colors that most girls can afford, so it quickly gained universal fame and popularity. With such a manicure, one way or another, all Hollywood stars appeared. No wonder it is now considered a classic.

white manicure

A rather controversial trend from the 2000s is the white manicure. In most cases, it looks unnatural if it is not just a milky shade – it can only be classified as universal. Therefore, this trend does not have many followers even now.

Abstraction

On the famous nails of the nineties, we rarely see anything but a solid color and the occasional sparkle. The truth is, nail art in the form we know now was just beginning to emerge. Abstract drawings, sequins, prints, rhinestones – all this was not in manicure until the early 2000s.

neon manicure

Bright neon shades – pink, green, blue – also gained popularity in the 2000s. They stood out in any image and looked impressive. For example, this summer, bright pink has once again hit the top of the trends and has become the most sought-after color in beauty salons.
