After the summer, we start to notice that we are losing more hair than usual. The comb stays full and we can grab even more with our hands. It’s a common process that we don’t need to worry about, although it’s also important to know When should we see a specialist? We spoke to several experts about hair loss and hair loss, take note!
Every day we lose between 80 and 100 hairs
It seems like a cliché, it comes back from vacation and our bodies start to show signs of fatigue, and one of the classic phenomena is hair loss. However, it is so because it is part of the hair’s natural renewal and regeneration process. The typical summer heat, sweat and salt encourage growth, so when fall approaches, our hair is in the fall phase. Raquel Saiz from Salón Blue by Raquel Saiz from Torrelavega (Cantabria) explains: “Every day we lose between 80 and 100 hairs, as a result of the hair growth process, which also goes through a life cycle, the so-called hair follicle cycle. So seasonal hair loss should not worry us, much less if we have verified that new hairs are being born, which would show that the life cycle is continuing.”
We are not always so clear about it, however, as other internal factors can be added to the seasonal fall that emphasize it and mask it, coinciding with this period of natural fall. Stress, so typical of returning from vacation, some medications, postpartum or anemia can also trigger the fall. “Without a doubt, the first thing that is important is that a professional checks the hair, diagnoses it and checks that the fall is not excessive or that there are areas where the scalp has obvious holes or bald spots. The most important thing to remedy is to know what is happening to us and thus take the most accurate measures to correct it ”, says the expert.
It is important not to confuse the fall with the loss, because although the symptoms may be similar, the consequences are not, as Raquel Saiz of Salón Blue of Raquel Saiz of Torrelavega (Cantabria) clarifies. “Hair loss and hair loss can scare us off, but they have very different causes. Although hair loss is a normal process where the hair regenerates and grows back, the loss causes a reduction in the capillary sheath because it does not regenerate, that is, it does not grow back, it is the famous baldness. Therefore, it is very important to go to a specialist to determine appropriate treatment and stop it in time.
If we are faced with a simple seasonal decline, we need not be alarmed. We can improve the situation by resorting to products and habits that strengthen the hair in the regeneration phase. “Hair cosmetics offer us suitable solutions to strengthen the hair during the autumn season, such as shampoos, conditioners, masks, oils or even nutricosmetics, whose main function is to improve the hair from within. On other occasions, it may be enough to protect our hair from some very irritating external agents such as dryers, irons or some chemical components such as ammonia,” explains the expert.
Another fundamental aspect is eating a balanced diet to avoid vitamin deficiency, especially iron and zinc, two of the essential minerals for growth, and setting aside false myths such as washing hair daily weakens it, as Raquel Saiz from Blue Salon by Raquel Saiz from Torrelavega (Cantabria): “One of the most common misconceptions about hair is the issue of washing. Healthy hair is clean hair that we wash with a shampoo that suits its needs and characteristics.. In this way we remove secretions and flakes and residues of finishing products from the scalp. Although we will also be more aware of hair loss when we are in the fall season as by washing and brushing we help loosen the hair fibers that are about to fall but that doesn’t mean it falls anymore.
