Ultraviolet radiation, high humidity, heat below 30 degrees – all this affects the condition of our skin and hair. To protect yourself from the influence of negative factors, it is important to properly take care of yourself. What are the most common mistakes made in a summer beauty routine and how to avoid them? Cosmetologist Elvira Yurkevich, founder of the network of professional cosmetics and cosmetics stores and founder of the cosmetics brand El for u, tells.

We do not use creams with SPF filters

No beauty training program is complete without a sunscreen ingredient. Every summer, a cream with an SPF filter becomes the most popular solution, although it has to be used all year round (this is due to UVA rays penetrating both glass and clouds regardless of the season). If you are in the city, it is sufficient to apply sunscreen twice a day, before leaving the house and after the work day. SPF cream should be reapplied on a beach vacation, every two hours, and after every swim in the sea or pool.

Cleaning the skin incorrectly

In addition to using a sunscreen product, it should also be properly removed from the skin. Ordinary micellar water or foam will not help here. SPF creams adhere quite firmly to the skin and are difficult to remove. Its residues can clog pores and cause breakouts. To avoid this, you need to remove sunscreens only with hydrophilic oils – they completely dissolve the cream and all the substances that make up its composition. And use the foam as the last step of cleansing.

Trying to dry the skin

In the summer, the sebaceous glands most actively produce sebum (sebum) to protect the epidermis from the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation. This is especially noticeable in owners of oily or combination skin – they are faced with clogged pores, blackheads, acne and oily shine. Therefore, many try to dry the skin with alcohol lotions or tinctures, but this will not only help, but also make it worse. If you over-dry the combined type, the T-zone will start to become oily and peeling will appear on the cheeks.

In summer, the skin needs hydration, not drying. Therefore, do not neglect creams, serums, use matte wipes or mineral powder to remove oily shine (removes excess sebum).

Forget the skin of the lips and hair

The hair and skin of the lips are also affected by ultraviolet radiation, so we must not forget about their protection. For the care of strands, sunscreen sprays or oils are suitable. And for the skin of the lips, balms and sticks with an SPF filter are suitable – 10-15 units of SPF will be enough to protect them from exposure to sunlight.

We abuse peeling

It seems that the more we cleanse the facial skin in the summer, the better we help it cope with the heat, but it is not. Excessive peeling destroys the protective lipid barrier, so it becomes more vulnerable to ultraviolet radiation. Also, frequent use of exfoliating agents activates the sebaceous glands, leading to oily shine and inflammation. For summer care, you should prefer enzyme powders or bubble oxygen masks. But they should be used in moderation – no more than 1-2 times a week. This is enough to remove dead skin cells and allow the skin to breathe fully.

come out with wet hair

In the heat, there is a great temptation to go outside after a wash without waiting for the hair to dry completely. But such a habit is bad for their situation: in the street air there is a lot of dust, dirt and exhaust gases, and wet hair quickly absorbs all these harmful substances. Therefore, it is best to wait for it to dry at home.

Washing frequently with shower gel

When it’s very hot outside, we shower more often than usual. However, if you use cleansing gels every time, you may experience moisture loss on the skin. It dries up and loses its protective properties, which allows harmful bacteria to enter the body more easily. Therefore, if you cannot deny once again the pleasure of standing under a cool shower, choose soft, delicate products that will retain moisture in the skin.
