Surgery can be performed from the age of 18 to correct the shape and size of the nose. For example, you can achieve a more harmonious appearance in general by eliminating the hump, asymmetry in the tips and wings, and by making the nose more suitable for the face proportions.

It is also possible to solve breathing difficulties. This operation is already called “rhinoseptoplasty” and includes, among other things, the correction of a crooked nasal septum.

Is it true that surgery can be performed without stitches?

Stitches will remain after surgery. But there are ways to make sure no one will notice them.

There are two types of rhinoplasty: open and closed. When open, a thin scar is left on the columella (area of ​​skin between the nostrils) of the nose. It can be seen if you throw your head back strongly. Some patients “polish” it with a laser to make it as invisible as possible.

The closed rhinoplasty technique assumes that the surgeon makes all the incisions inside the nose without leaving any external scars. The technique is selected individually according to the patient’s indications, but in most cases I personally work using the closed method.

How is it prepared, how is the operation and rehabilitation going?

To make sure that everything is in order and there are no contraindications, you need to take tests.

The operation itself takes an average of one and a half or two hours, depending on the complexity and amount of work. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. A special splint is placed that must be worn for 10 days to correct the result and prevent the spread of edema. After the operation, you wake up in the hospital already, until the next day you are under the supervision of rehabilitation doctors.

Then a personalized dressing plan is prepared and you can go home.

When can the final result be evaluated? Really only a year later?

At first there will be swelling and even small hematomas – this is absolutely normal for the recovery period. The primary result will please you in a month.

And then, indeed, the nose will gradually “sit down”, and the final transformation can be evaluated after a year.

Can the “made” nose be seen from afar?

Some doctors specialize in “baby” pimp mouths and mark all their patients because they know how to do it. Also, it’s aesthetically pleasing. Often this is already noticeable in the doctor’s portfolio of work.

Yes, such an “instagram” nose – especially if it does not suit the patient at all – is often noticeable, and one may suspect that it is “not him”.

But a competent, experienced surgeon focuses not on fashion trends, but on the features of the anatomical structure. Therefore, when asked to make a “Jolie profile” or similar, it is important to understand how that profile will harmonize with other facial features.

Is it true that the nose smells worse after rhinoplasty?

The sense of smell may be temporarily impaired and there may be a stuffy breath from swelling. However, everything should be restored within a few months with a suitable surgery and following the doctor’s recommendations during the rehabilitation period.

It certainly shouldn’t be like this permanently.

Can’t wear glasses after rhinoplasty?

It is impossible within a month after the operation. Then, in most cases, it is already possible, but you should not immediately wear heavy, large-framed glasses.

Is sports banned now?

You can, nose correction is absolutely not a contraindication for sports! After a rehabilitation period (one month), we gradually return to physical activity.

Now many beauticians offer “non-surgical rhinoplasty” with fillers. Trustworthy?

I believe that “non-surgical rhinoplasty” does not exist. If the doctor uses fillers, it is an injectable cosmetic technique, but not a rhinoplasty.

The beautician can really slightly correct some points when preparing hyaluronic acid. For example, lift the tip or slightly straighten the hump. But unlike surgery, the result will be temporary, lasting only a few months. The “piece” with such a procedure is not worth it – this leads to scarring of tissues.

In addition, the doctor performing such a correction should have a good knowledge of the anatomy and enter the correct layers so that he does not create circulatory disorders in soft tissues that can cause embolism (compression of blood vessels) or necrosis. All these are great risks for the patient.

In my opinion, contouring is ideal for face correction cheekbones, lips, chin and similar areas. But if you want to straighten the nose, it is better to leave it to the surgeon.
