For us, makeup is not just a familiar beauty routine, but also an opportunity to look at ourselves in a different way, try new images and, finally, emphasize our uniqueness.
We present to you our columnist Olga Romanova! Olga is a famous makeup artist and creator of the Romanovamakeup cosmetics brand. Last time, she shared the main rules of makeup removal. And today she will tell you what mistakes you should avoid when creating New Year’s makeup.

The last thing I recommend looking at when preparing for any important event is trends. The most correct and comfortable thing is to emphasize your individuality by forgetting the rules. Therefore, I would focus on my own emotions and the theme of the party, if any. But there are nuances here that I want to focus on.
Bright lipstick is not always a good choice
If the event is going to be long, I would avoid using bright lipstick. It is very difficult to maintain the ideal contour for a long time. But if you really want it, I recommend saving the red one for a special occasion. Let’s say it’s a staged photo.
Shiny and loose hair too
In general, it’s best to focus on the eyes and apply a long-lasting gloss or tint to the lips. Although brighteners are a separate topic: I do not recommend their use to owners of long, flowing hair. You may not notice how it gets on your cheeks when you start dancing.
Shimmer shadows are best applied with your fingers.
Shimmering, iridescent shadows in metallic tones, well-tinted eyelashes look very beautiful and fashionable in combination with matte lips without a clear contour. To achieve the second effect, it is enough to apply the lipstick with a barrel brush or “press” it with your fingertips. The same thing can and should be done with shadows.
Let the exposed parts of your body shine
Pay special attention to the décolleté area and, indeed, to open areas of the body. Before putting on your dress, mix the cream highlighter with your favorite lotion in a one-to-two ratio and apply wherever you think is appropriate. Thanks to this technique, the skin will look as impressive as possible in the photo.
Treat the area around your eyes
Make sure you work on the eye area as this is where fatigue first appears. You will need a corrector and a shadow base, with which it will be useful to lighten the upper eyelid. Coat your eyelashes thoroughly with mascara, and then glue a few bunches of eyelashes, emphasizing the outer corner.
Makeup fixing is a must
Finally, make sure you use powder. It should be as light and airy as possible so as not to create a mask effect, but also to capture the overall picture. Then fix the result with thermal water or a special spray.
