3 pointless skin care products, according to Yulia Nosevich

The fact that the cosmetics market is growing at a rapid pace is too obvious to be explained in words. Just a few years ago, we didn’t think we needed a separate product in the form of a peeling or scrub for scalp care. We could easily exist without facial serum, but now our beauty routine seems incomplete without it. New products come onto the market every year, but do we really need them all?

We decided to find out what beauty blogger and author of the telegram channel “With One Care” Yulia Nosevich thinks about this issue. It will tell you which cosmetics do not bring any benefit.

Over the few years I’ve spent on beauty blogs, I’ve come to realize: Cosmetics are a very subjective thing, and if you think a product is stupid, then there are plenty of people ready to argue with you.

The reason is simple: We are all very different, we have different skin, different needs and most importantly, expectations from cosmetics. The most common reason for disappointment with beauty products in general is high expectations; I plan to write about this one day. But back to the meaningless products. Would it be fair and true if I, for example, as the owner of oily skin, said that a nourishing night mask is useless?

Actually, I have combination, problem skin, I am 31 years old. I have struggled with closed comedones and inflammations all my adult life, so for the sake of objectivity of this material I will express only my own opinion and only about products that I consider useless for myself and my skin.

First in my list of stupid products are moisturizing toners. For a long time I did not understand why they were needed. Do they cleanse the skin after washing? NO. Moisturize? Maybe, but that’s what moisturizing serums and creams are for. Balancing pH? He is calmly returning to normal with us. Yes, it’s a nice layer between cleansing and moisturizing, but you can easily do without it.

Next come all kinds of products aimed at narrowing pores – washes, masks, creams. Remember: it is impossible to narrow the pores; This is a feature of the structure of our skin. They can only be visually “tightened” by peeling, hiding with the help of decorative cosmetics, but nothing more. And in general, if the only problem with your skin is enlarged pores, I envy you.

And the icing on the cake are eye creams that promise to eliminate dark circles. Unfortunately, blueness under the eyes almost never lends itself to superficial correction. Yes, if the cream contains vitamin C, it can slightly lighten dark circles (but only if their appearance is associated with excessive melanin synthesis, and this is not always the case), but nothing more. However, there is an exception in this category – some creams for dark circles contain reflective particles that will make bruises visually more invisible, but this is only a decorative lotion. In other cases, promises to save you from dark circles are nothing more than marketing.

In general, I would like to conclude with this: Besides the targeted solution of aesthetic problems, one of the main functions of cosmetics and the cosmetics industry as a whole is the pleasure of use. And if you really like applying a moisturizing toner, isn’t that the most important thing?
