We all know that sweat is a normal result of the thermoregulation process invented by nature. We sweat to cool our bodies. It can be said that this is the natural conditioner that we all need. But if sweat has become an issue that makes you feel embarrassed to go out or wear certain clothes, that issue needs to be resolved. What are the ways to get rid of excessive sweating?

what is sweat?
Sweat is a fluid produced by sweat glands. Sweat is mostly water, but it also contains electrolytes, protein products, amino acids and bacteria.
What determines how much a person sweats?
A person sweats when the body is warm and needs cooling. It also occurs during anxiety or fever.
However, some people have a condition such as hyperhidrosis – increased sweating and very rarely hypohidrosis – decreased sweating. Hyperhidrosis can be primary or secondary.
— primary hyperhidrosis. As a rule, its symptoms develop in childhood or adolescence and continue throughout life. It is exacerbated by heat or emotional stimuli. Part of the body, such as the armpits, palms, feet, or head, may sweat.
— secondary hyperhidrosis. It develops as a result of any disease or medication or dietary supplement. Usually, increased sweating disappears after the exclusion of these provocateurs.

How do I know if I’m sweating normally?
If you are not sweating at rest, you are probably sweating normally.
However, hyperhidrosis is the secretion of sweat in excess of the amount physiologically necessary for thermoregulation.
How to solve the excessive sweating problem?
Hyperhidrosis treatment includes:
– antiperspirants;
– botulinum toxin injections;
— microwave thermolysis;
– operation.
Deodorants Against Antiperspirants
Deodorants block odor by masking it. The composition includes alcohols, esters and other cosmetic ingredients.
Antiperspirants, on the other hand, reduce and prevent the release of sweat, thus reducing odor. This is usually due to the aluminum salts in the product’s formula.

Many people worry that antiperspirants can cause breast cancer because these products contain aluminum and other potentially harmful ingredients. This theory is based on the idea that the skin in the chest area absorbs potentially harmful components, including aluminum salts, which can act on estrogen receptors in breast cells.
But the American Cancer Society says there is no clear link between aluminum and breast cancer. Studies were conducted in 2016 and 2021 that did not reveal an association between antiperspirants containing aluminum salts and breast cancer. Only a small amount of aluminum enters the skin, and breast cancer cells do not contain more aluminum than normal breast cells.
botox injections
One of the most popular ways to prevent excessive sweating is to turn to botox.

Botox injections in the armpits prevent the transmission of impulses from the nerves to the muscles, which paralyzes the work of the sweat glands. At the same time, the pores remain open so that the body’s thermoregulation function is not impaired.
How does it work?
When botulinum toxin (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) is injected into the skin, it is embedded in the nerve endings that match the sweat glands (like a “keylock”). In them, it blocks the “gates” that must be opened to let out acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter that transmits nerve impulses to the central nervous system). As a result, acetylcholine is not released and the sweat gland does not “open”.

Is it safe?
Treatment of hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxins is a safe procedure. Very rarely, if a person has a VSD with severe sympathetic hyperactivity, a second injection of botulinum toxin may be required 10-14 days later.
Botox injections to stop sweating help all but one percent of people with botulinum toxin sensitivity, so this manipulation will not give the desired effect.
How is the procedure applied?
Technically, the injection is done as follows.
– The armpit is treated with lidocaine-based anesthetic, the cream is applied to the armpit area. It is removed after resting for 15 minutes.
– The armpit area is cut papularly with botulinum toxin solution. As a rule, Dysport is used for this area, since in the official instructions there is an indication for this drug – hyperhidrosis.
How long does the effect last?
The effect of the drug lasts an average of three to four months. Then the receptors are restored and the first signs of sweating appear. The duration of action depends, among other things, on the individual characteristics of the person, his metabolism and lifestyle. If the person does a lot of sports, the effect lasts shorter. The effect will be longer if the lifestyle is less active and the metabolism is not so fast.

Does it hurt?
The procedure is very comfortable, performed with local application anesthesia and takes 30-40 minutes.
When does the effect come?
The effect of botulinum toxin starts to show after about four days and finally stops working of sweat glands within two weeks.
microwave thermolysis
This is a relatively new treatment for underarm (i.e. underarm) hyperhidrosis. The procedure is carried out using a device that acts on the sweat glands with ultra-frequency energy, as a result of which it is destroyed and is no longer restored.
