Enzyme powder came to the Russian beauty market, like many popular skin care products from Asia. Despite the unusual name and application, it has firmly taken its place in our beauty routine. Why do we love it and why do we prefer it in the spring-summer season?

Why is it needed?

The exfoliation phase (i.e. exfoliation) is essential for the skin all year round. Its main goal is to remove the “barrier” from keratinized particles that prevents the active ingredients of serums, masks and creams from penetrating deeper. And enzyme powder is a delicate substitute for peeling. It cleanses the skin much softer and at the same time is not inferior to it in effectiveness. In the spring and summer, beauticians recommend using enzyme powder instead of the usual peeling agent, so as not to damage the skin once again during the active sun period.

How does enzyme powder work?

The powder does not mechanically wipe the upper layer of the epidermis, as, for example, peeling does, it dissolves it with the help of enzymes. Enzymes are natural enzymes that speed up chemical reactions in skin tissues. Once in the epidermis, they dissolve impurities, excess sebum and dead cells. Therefore, the name of the powder comes from its main component, enzymes.

How is this used?

Enzyme powder is a versatile product that can be used in many ways.

For facial skin:

– The first method is suitable for a more delicate effect. Take a small amount of powder (approximately half a teaspoon) in your palm, mix it with water, rub until it reaches the consistency of milk or light foam and apply to the skin of the face and neck with massaging movements. Then wash it off with lukewarm water.

– The second method is suitable for more intensive skin cleansing. To do this, apply the powder to wet skin, massage and rinse thoroughly with water. In this case, the enzyme powder will work almost like a scrub.

For body skin:

– Mix the powder with shower gel and apply to damp body skin. Leave the product on for a few minutes and rinse with warm water. This method is suitable for gentle exfoliation and prevention of ingrown hairs.

For the scalp:

– Mix the powder with shampoo and apply to wet scalp with massaging movements. Wash with lukewarm water. This method is ideal for gentle exfoliation and stimulation of new hair growth.

In addition, when working with enzyme powder you need to remember a few details:

– The water should be at room temperature. Enzymes work worse in cold weather.

– Enzyme powder should not be left on the skin for too long, otherwise the active enzymes will start to destroy healthy cells.

– Beauticians recommend using the product 1-2 times a week. But there are powders that can be used daily. Therefore, carefully read the instructions on the package.

Who is eligible?

Enzyme powder is suitable for owners of almost any skin type, from dry to oily. The only thing to remember is to always look at the composition of the product. Acids are often added to powder formulas for extra exfoliation, and this may not be helpful for sensitive skin.
