Acne in adults, what is it and how do you get rid of it?

Do you have pimples on your face? Acne usually clears up after adolescence, but it is also becoming more common in adults, especially women. The continued use of masks — and the moist environment they create on the face by covering it up — have also been a major contributor to the surge in acne rates in older people in recent months. This acne is often more difficult to treat, because the skin is also more mature and needs other treatments (spots, wrinkles, lack of clarity…)

Acne in adults is influenced by multiple aggravating factors, such as sun exposure, stress, obesity, a high-fat diet, tobacco or alcohol abuse, cosmetics, medications, sleep disturbances, changes in sebum levels or abuse of creams. In many cases, it is usually due to the use of unsuitable cosmetics or to their excess (or misuse), or to hormonal causes or imbalances. This acne usually appears in the “U” zone, ie on the cheeks, chin and neck, and usually manifests as closed comedones or inflamed internal pimples under the skin. Most cases of adult acne are caused by the oil generated by the sebaceous glands, which clog the pores of the skin. This facilitates the production of bacteria, which cause infection and subsequent inflammation of the pore.

Do you also suffer from acne in adulthood? Here we leave you some effective products to end it once and for all. Look for products with ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or niacinamide, and most importantly, follow a good skincare routine every day, including a good double cleanse, regular exfoliation to remove dead cells and excess sebum, and proper hydration. Take note of these recommendations we tell you!
