This winter, protect your skin from the cold with the “skin flooding” method.

When temperatures drop, as they do right now, skin takes a direct hit if it’s not properly protected. Redness, irritation, dryness or dehydration… To avoid all these inconveniences, we have the solution.

The skin is the largest organ of our body. But paradoxically, it can sometimes show a certain fragilityespecially in winter when temperatures are sometimes below 0. To help it strengthen its barrier and maintain a certain skin balance, there are no secrets: you need to adopt a routine based on hydration.

The latest to date is not that of “layering”, nor that of “skin cycling” (although the latter have proven to be valid), but of “skin flood”. In English, this term means quite simply “skin flood”, which speaks volumes about the nature of routine. But how can skin flooded by the cold be better protected and above all how to adopt this technique?

The skin flooding method in a nutshell

To adopt the “skin flooding” method it is necessary above all don’t be afraid to build layers of hydration on your skin. But rest assured, this routine is much less complex than slugging, which requires the use of a product that isn’t suitable for everyone: petroleum jelly.

To be applied in the evening and/or morning after having practiced double cleansing, flooding the skin requires the use of a spray of thermal water or floral water to be sprayed on the face. On damp skin, it is recommended to use a serum with hyaluronic acid. If this asset is highlighted, it’s becauseit has the ability to hold more than 1000 times its weight in waterwhich allows it to offer beautiful moisturizing properties to the epidermis.

After this step, don’t switch to moisturizer right away as another serum is needed to combat micro-inflammations and soothe winter irritations. But what is it? Well, it comes a serum containing a good dose of niacinamide. Another stellar active ingredient that pairs very well with hyaluronic acid.

Now is the time to seal the routine by applying a moisturizer (rich if you have dry skin, light if you have oily skin) and naturally finish it off with an SPF. One last thing to do if and only if you practice this routine in the morning!

How does it adequately protect the skin from the cold?

By applying moisturizing and anti-inflammatory products to the skin, the barrier of the latter will regain its tightness and create real protection against attacks. Among those that the epidermis faces on a daily basis, there is friction against scarves or turtlenecks, cold and wind. Elements that quickly tend to damage the hydrolipidic film to directly attack bare skin deprived of its protection.

But why does layering moisturizers lead to such a strengthening of the skin barrier? Simply because hyaluronic acid coupled with niacinamide and a good moisturizer they act as repairing elements of the hydrolipidic film originally made up of an emulsion of water and lipids. A winning trio that has the advantage of being suitable for all skin types without exception.
