Autumn 2026 Haircut Trends Outlined by Yulia Karakulova

Top stylist Yulia Karakulova from the Shevelyur beauty space has outlined the key haircut trends for Russian women ahead of autumn 2026.

In a statement provided to news outlet Lenta.ru, Karakulova explained that upcoming seasonal hair trends focus on softer outlines, internal volume, and textured shapes tailored to individual hair types.

A primary trend for the autumn season is the bob haircut, which features shorter strands at the back and elongated pieces in the front. Karakulova noted that hairdressers are steering away from heavy, straight cuts this season. Instead, stylists are incorporating internal layers and slightly thinning out the ends to help them curl inward naturally.

First popularized in the early 20th century as a revolutionary short style for women, the classic bob has evolved into a versatile hairdressing standard that frequently receives seasonal updates in structure and layering.

Layered Cuts and Fine Hair Management

Long layered haircuts with face-framing strands are also set to be widely fashionable in the coming months. Under this technique, the top section of the hair gains volume while the front layers begin around the cheekbones or chin and gradually merge into the main length.

Karakulova explained that this multi-layered approach is especially beneficial for heavy hair, which often loses its shape rapidly when cut to a single uniform length. However, she emphasized that stylists must approach fine hair with far greater caution when deciding on the number of layers.

Removing too much volume from fine hair can leave the ends looking visually sparse. For clients with finer hair, Karakulova advised maintaining a dense bottom contour while introducing movement mainly around the face and in the crown area.

French Bangs and the Modern Shag

The expert also highlighted French bangs as a key autumn look, defining them as elongated strands crafted with a soft edge that frame the face delicately.

In addition, the soft shag haircut is making a strong appearance in autumn styling. The traditional shag, which first became a cultural staple during the 1970s, relies on heavy texture, choppy strands, and pronounced layering throughout the head.

Karakulova explained that the autumn 2026 version of the shag is noticeably calmer than its predecessors. The contrast between short and long strands is more subtle, allowing the layers to connect smoothly while bringing out the natural wave of the hair.

Key Autumn Styling Trends

When it comes to hair styling, Karakulova recommended focusing on relaxed, touchable finishes rather than rigid shapes. Key trends for the autumn season include loose waves, natural volume, soft face-framing strands, and a light touch of casual messiness.
