Singer Anna Sedokova has publicly rejected demands from relatives of her late ex-husband, basketball player Janis Timma, to hand over her mortgaged apartment.

Writing on her Instagram account, Sedokova stated that she bought the property using a mortgage and paid for the housing entirely on her own. She added that her former husband did not spend a single penny on the home.
Sedokova insisted she would not take money away from her own children to give it to Timma's child from his first marriage. She asserted that the child from his previous relationship has no connection to her property or finances.
Financial independence and advice to ex-wife
Addressing the demands directly, Sedokova shared that she has been working continuously since the age of 16. She explained that she raised and provided for her children independently without ever asking anyone for financial assistance, noting that her current assets were built solely through hard work.
The artist advised Timma's ex-wife to stop searching for money belonging to other people and suggested that she find a job instead.
Background and dispute over pet breeding
Sedokova is a Ukrainian-born pop singer, actress, and television presenter who rose to fame in 2002 as a member of the pop girl group VIA Gra before pursuing a solo music career. Timma was a Latvian professional basketball player who played forward for European clubs in Russia, Spain, and Greece, as well as representing the Latvian national team, prior to his death.
The post was shared via Instagram, a photo and video sharing platform owned by Meta Platforms. In Russia, Meta has been designated as an extremist organization and its services are officially banned.
The dispute over the real estate follows previous public claims made by Sedokova regarding her former husband's estate. She previously stated that an American Pit Bull Terrier, which she had originally given as a gift to Timma, was being used for illegal dog breeding after the athlete's death, when the animal was handed over to his parents.
